What has the financial impact COVID-19 been on the local business since March 15, 2020?

What are the ways the business has responded, pivoted/innovated to stay in business?

Response

Jersey Mikes was able to keep their expenses tracked using basic balance sheets and income statements as they would have normally. They first noticed a drop in activity in march where people had their first initial scare but recovered as people realized they still needed food.

Jersey Mikes was able to stay in business by implementing COVID-19 safe guidelines that the government and CDC require. This was achieved by implementing cough shields at the register, mandatory face mask usage, and other measures.

What has the local community support/initiatives response been to date?

Similar to Starbucks, the community helped step in by preventing unnecessary traveling outside their homes except for necessities, wearing masks for the duration of time they are near people, as well as social distancing. Yet, Jersey Mike’s was able to stay open and running throughout the entire duration.

What impact has COVID-19 owners, employees & families (personally)?

Jersey Mikes has had little effect besides initial sales declines with the first outbreak. However, this virus has impacted the families because they are at risk with their employees interacting with many people every day and this poses a health risk to friends and family at home.

What has the business done to protect employees from COVID-19 and how has that process changed?

Besides implementing the laws for mandatory face mask usage and social distancing, they also sanitized surfaces frequently and made it mandatory for employees to stay home if they experience any symptoms.
